The PFW Impact Crusher, often referred to as a European-style impact crusher, is widely used in open-pit quarry operations where consistent throughput and high-quality aggregate shape are required. It is typically positioned after a jaw crusher and performs reliably in secondary or tertiary crushing stages.
Material enters the crusher through a large feed opening and is accelerated by a heavy-duty rotor before impacting hardened blow bars and liners inside a three-curtain crushing chamber. This controlled impact process breaks material efficiently while shaping it into uniform, cubical aggregates suitable for downstream screening and use.
This design improves crushing efficiency while reducing operating and wear-part costs. The hydraulic system allows quick adjustment of discharge size and simplifies maintenance tasks, while interchangeable liners and a unique hammer locking device extend service life and reduce downtime.
The PFW Impact Crusher is well suited for processing limestone, feldspar, calcite, dolomite, gypsum, barite, graphite, and other medium-hard materials. It is commonly applied in aggregate production, highway and railway construction, airport infrastructure, and similar large-scale material processing operations.
Depending on model, the crusher supports capacities ranging from 90–350 tons per hour (TPH), with maximum feed sizes up to 350 mm. Rotor dimensions, motor power, and overall machine size vary by configuration and should be selected based on material hardness, feed size, and production targets.
If you are evaluating an impact crusher for a new plant or an upgrade to an existing crushing circuit, our team can help you determine the appropriate PFW Impact Crusher model for your application and material requirements.
The table below lists rotor dimensions, feed opening size, maximum feed size, capacity range, motor power, and overall dimensions for each PFW Impact Crusher model.
